Explore & Discover Milton

Though the city of Atlanta has a rich heritage dating back hundreds of years, the city of Milton is a relative newcomer to the area 32 miles north of Atlanta. Until recently, Milton was considered a part of neighboring cities Alpharetta and Roswell. But in December 2006, Milton became its own city.

In 2011, it was recognized for its quality of life in the state of Georgia by being named the ninth-highest in the southern U.S. by On Numbers quality-of-life standings. It was also ranked #6 in the 2017 Best Suburbs To Live In Georgia by Niche.com, an online ranking and review site.

Some of the contributing factors to Milton’s popularity as a great place to live and work are good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties.

Milton is an affluent area with median household income just over $110,000 and median home value is $459,600. There are wide-open expanses of rolling hills, horse stables and pastures, and both old and new golf/swim/tennis communities. Milton real estate is a combination of new construction, including custom-built homes, and older estates at varying price points.
